Questions Concerning Bible Prophecy
Introduction:
Bible prophecy is one of the most fascinating things to study. As I attempt to answer your questions, please note that there is a myriad of interpretations out there. The answers provided in this section are from an Historicist viewpoint. This means the interpretations will be based upon the ongoing controversy between Christ and Satan throughout history including our time and beyond. Most people view the book of Revelation as things which will happen in the future from our time, after a rapture. However, the opening verse says, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to show unto His servants things which must shortly come to pass …” (Revelation 1:1). The prophecies were not meant to begin centuries after John lived, but would be events that would “shortly come to pass.”
As we look at these prophecies, we will be using Scripture to interpret Scripture; for “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation” (2 Peter 1:20). When we do this, we will be able to compare these prophecies to the events that have played out in history as well as see glimpses as to what is ahead of us.
It is my prayer that you will at least consider the things discussed. I understand the sensitivity of these matters and I always pray, “Let each be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). May you be blessed as you read.
